Maintenance:

Services are the cornerstone of the MapTooL system. The services that Siren Mapping System provides are designed to simplify the maintenance of your mobile mapping system so that your agency can concentrate on the business of saving lives and property.

An annual maintenance contract with Siren Mapping Systems include the following:

  • Master database service
  • Liaison service
  • Versioning service
  • Technical Support

Master Database service
The information that is collected within MapTooL is backed up and distributed on our secure servers.  Any MapTooL user can refresh the pre-plan data on their computer with an Internet connection and the click of a mouse... This means that everybody is looking at the exact same map no matter who is doing the data collection… and it does not require you to assign new "data administrator" duties to any of your personnel!

Liaison service
In most cases, the base map data that Siren customers will choose to display in MapTooL will be map data that is maintained by a third party (usually a city or county GIS department). Siren Mapping Systems will help to facilitate the relationship between our customer and the data provider by providing the following services:

  • Siren will be a single point of distribution for the data provider. This allows the data provider to ship their data to one location and have that data distributed among all MapTooL users.
  • Siren provides the tools to make it “one click” simple for our customers to update the road and parcel data on their map.
  • Siren provides a direct line of communication from the MapTooL user to the municipal GIS coordinator for feedback regarding the correctness and completeness of the road and parcel data.

Versioning Service
At Siren Mapping Systems, we are constantly working to improve our products and services. One of the tools that we have created to allow our customers to reap the benefits of our commitment to improvement is the “Auto-Updater”. The Auto-Updater is executed every time a MapTooL user refreshes the data on his machine. The Auto-Updater looks at the version of MapTooL that the user is running and invisibly replaces the MapTooL program with a newer version if one exists. This technology allows the Siren Mapping Systems staff to publish small improvements to the program much more frequently and to be more responsive to customer requests.

Technical support
20 hours of annual technical support are available via email, telephone or on-site visits. Requests that require more than 20 hours of annual effort by the Siren support staff will be honored at an hourly rate to be agreed upon. Examples of support that may require a separate hourly billing include:

  • Create significant new functionality in MapTooL
  • Convert existing data into a standard GIS format for use in MapTooL
  • Networking support (Internet or intranet)
