Implementation:At Siren Mapping Systems, we know that every emergency response agency has unique needs, wants, and expectations. Before the actual system implementation begins, we will work with you to develop a "Requirements Document" that is tailored to your agency's timeline and budget. One of the most important components of creating a requirements document is determining what you want to see on your map. In the MapTooL system there are two types of map layers:
Layers that are maintained by your agency: Information that your agency currently maintains can be converted to map layers and maintained through MapTooL. Building and hydrant inspections, HazMat sites with ERG response guides, and floor plans created in third party applications are all examples of information that can be displayed as layers of information in MapTooL. There are many benefits to maintaining your data from within MapTooL including ease of distribution (with our map synchronization service), and instant availability of your information when responding to an incident. Layers that are maintained by other agencies: The vast majority of American cities and countys now have GIS programs in place. These municipal systems are usually the best source of road & parcel data for your mapping system. If you are fortunate enough to have a robust GIS program in your community, we will help you to leverage that resource with our liaison service. In addition to municipal GIS programs, there are many other sources of map data that we can use to build your digital map. These alternate data sources range from commercial "Off the shelf" datasets to free federal data. No matter what the source(s) of your final digital map, we will provide the tools and communication to ensure that your map is always up-to-date.
